Group leader and Chicago rock and roll celebrity Joe Cantafio, formerly of Jade 50’s, created the 101st ROCK DIVISION after his one year solo effort, the “Let Freedom Sing” tour, successfully ended on September 11th, 2002. Let Freedom Sing, was created to heal and give a break to the firefighters of a New York firehouse as well as family members of firefighters lost on September 11th. While flying home from a concert, the brother of lost FDNY firefighter Stephen P. Russell, Cliff Russell asked Cantafio, “What do we do now?” Cantafio answered, “Let’s bring it to the troops!”  In 2004, the 101st ROCK DIVISION set out on a world tour. The group, performed concerts in Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Djibouti, Africa and Bahrain.

Some of the greatest artists from the Midwest stand beside Cantafio. Off-Broadway Bassist, Mike Gorman brilliantly fills the group’s low end. Frank Capek, formerly of The Kind, tears it up with some of the greatest guitar work ever heard. Chicago blues great, Tim Scruggs, brings it all together on the drums.   Tom Repetny adds to the "guitar section" with some original and innovative playing.

Classically trained keyboardists, Chinbaa and Sarnai, vividly create the sounds and set the mood with their unique style.  The newest additions to the group,  vocalist/keyboardist Bogi and vocalist/violinist Sundre, add the icing to an incredible serving of high energy entertainment and complete the powerful presentation that is THE 101st ROCK DIVISION.

The 101st Rock Division performs everything from Rock to Country, and Hip-Hop to Blues, with the intensity and fever that made rock and roll a part of America.
